The Gift of the Unexpected

The realer we are with ourselves, the more difficult it becomes to be anything different than who we’re truly meant to be.

We deeply understand the power of vulnerability, and live our lives fully in accordance to our highest expression.

Our words are our bonds, and how we communicate outwardly within our personal and professional circles takes on a whole new meaning.

We continue to peel the onion back, shedding layers upon layers of ourselves until there is nothing but the pure core of our being to see.

We repel others who don’t energetically vibe with us, while at the same time attracting those us who are really meant to be in our lives.

The most important aspect I’ve realized on this journey is that some people will be in your life for different seasons, but aren’t truly meant to be there forever.

We can all think back to certain friend or relationships, where at the time we thought (or hoped) the union would last forever.

We spent a tremendous amount of time together, learning great lessons of life along the way.

However there came a time when our paths, for whatever reason, were no longer in resonance, leading to either an affable or discourteous departure.

Where we’re currently at in our lives is a direct reflection to the level of consciousness we’re actively tapping into.

And there’s always a great deal of opportunities to expand our frame of mind.

There are an infinite amount of life experiences that continually shape the way in which we interact with and see the world.

The different cultures we come across, books we read, programming through the films or TV programs we watch, friendship circles, intimate relationships, and life obstacles we experience and overcome. These all play an integral part in the essence of how we show up.

There’s a magical element to this when you really take a moment to step back and absorb it.

Think back to who you were ten years ago.

What were you most passionate about at that time?

What took up the highest percentage of your thoughts?

What perceived challenges have you overcome during that period?

Now feel into where you are today, right now in this moment.

Are you in 100% the exact place you dreamed you’d be ten years ago?

There’s a great chance the answer to the question is a bonafide no.

While some areas are more than likely in alignment within where you deep down imagined, think about all the experiences you’ve had over that course of time that have expanded your way of seeing the world.

If my current self could transport back ten years and tell my younger version that I’d during that time:

  • Resign from a six figure corporate income

  • Travel to over 15 countries throughout the world

  • Start my own online coaching practice

  • Would donate a condo full of furniture to charity

  • Spend one summer in Ecuador and another in Finland

  • Become engaged to my life partner in Stockholm,Sweden

  • Adopt a vegetarian diet for almost two years

  • Become a Certified Yoga Teacher

  • Teach yoga and nutrition at a high school for a year

  • Hire my own Personal Coach

  • Would read over 250 books

  • Lose and keep off over 50 pounds of weight

  • Would have coaching clients in multiple countries throughout the world

  • Would passionately enjoy the art form of writing

Looking at this list now, there’s no way some of these items were even remotely apart of my conscious psyche at the time.

One of the most amusing things I can say with complete honesty today is that I never even heard of the country Finland until the spring of 2016 while traveling in Europe at the time on a bus going from the CzechRepublic to Austria.

The patron sitting next to me for the four-hour trip was from there and full of excitement when I told him I was from Texas.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, there were two Finnish born players on the Dallas Stars professional hockey team.

I remember my then bus mate excitedly pulling out his iPad to show me the exact players and mentioned how he’d love to travel someday toDallas to see them play live.

He then proceeded to pull up Google Maps and show me exactly where his native land was.

At that time I thought – “Hmm, that’s neat,” but genuinely had no desire of ever really going there.

However that would all change just six months short months after that encounter, as I would meet my now fiancé Veera, who happens to originally be from there herself.

And where did we meet of all places?

Not while I was traveling throughout Europe, but when I was back home in Dallas.

It’s funny because at that point of time I could actually say that I’ve not only heard of her country, but was also familiar with and brought up the fact that I knew a couple pro hockey players on the local team were from there too ;-)

Fast forward to just over a year and half after meeting her, and I would find myself spending two weeks in her home country, meeting her friends and family for the first time.

Six months after that, I actually spent the entire summer of 2018 in the country.

Life is truly amazing when we agree to allow it to just be sometimes.

When we’re able to be open to what is, without placing hardline expectations on what we feel it’s supposed to be.

It continues to provide me with a constant reminder to always be grateful for what is. To do my best to set intentions aligned with my heart and flow with what comes up without attachment.

As even with the clearest of future visions in which we hold for ourselves, the real magic lies within the most unpredictable times of the journey.

Those times when we’re unable to fully grasp the magnitude of what we’re experiencing in the present. Only to realize and deeply understand in the future, just how intricately connected each and every moment fits into the puzzle of our lives.

With Love,

Brandon
